  9. Challenge The public had limited knowledge of biotechnology and was misleaded by negative reports on GM The biology teachers had relatively higher awareness of GM, but still be influenced by anti-GM organizations Data from questionnaires in ChinaBIC planned activities

OpportunitiesStrong government support in China in the year of 2010 “Developing function gene and new biology varieties are of important application values and self-owned intellectual property rights. Improving industrialization of GM new varieties on the base of scientific evaluation and legal regulation." • Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council released Document No.1 for the year of 2010 on Jan.1, 2010,which noted: • Chinese President Hu Jintao strenthened on the Academician Conference of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering on Jun.7-11,2010 : “China will fully develop advanced breeding techniques to … ensure sustainable development and competitiveness of the nation’s agricultural sector.”
