The web-based case reporting system was initiated in 2005 and updated in 2008 across China. The system is the main infrastructure for monitoring the national epidemic of HIV/AIDS, projecting HIV/AIDS in the future, evaluating the effectiveness and/or impact of ART, relocating resources and decision making. HIV/AIDS case reporting (cont.) • The information of the cases that entered into the system is available to the higher levels immediately and simultaneously. • Local staff have only limited access to the information of the cases reported at or under their level. • The personal information will be updated during the following-up process, cases with CD4 count less than 350/ul will be recommended to receive antiretroviral treatment.
