Three-View Drawings • Front View • Top View • Side View
Dimensions of Three-View Drawings • Height How tall is it? • Width (Length) How wide or long is it? • Depth (Thickness) How deep is it?
Abbreviations • F.V. = Front View • R.V. = Right Side View • L.V. = Left Side View • Bot. V. = Bottom View • B.V. = Back or Rear View • Aux. V. = Auxiliary View • T.V. = Top View
Two-View Drawings • Usually use a front view and a side view (right, left, top, or bottom) • The primary view is the front view. • These drawings show flat objects and symmetrical parts (sleeves, shafts, or rods). *Symmetrical is abbreviated SYMM
One-View Drawings • Usually symmetrical, thin, flat objects where only one view is necessary for understanding • These drawings often use symbols, abbreviations, and notes.
Auxiliary Views • Show an object from a different angle to help understanding and explain the true shape • They could be full views or partial views
