Term 1, Week 2 Skill 1 – Listening • Look at the person who is talking. • Sit quietly. • Think about what is being said. • Say yes or nod your head. • Ask a question about the topic to find out more.
Term 1, Week 3 Skill 2 – Asking for Help • Ask yourself, “Can I do this alone?” • If not, raise your hand. • Wait. Say to yourself, “I know I can wait without talking.” • Ask for help in a friendly way.
Term 1, Week 4 Skill 3 – Saying Thank You • Decide if you want to thank someone. • Choose a good time and place. • Thank the person in a friendly way.
Term 1, Week 5 Skill 4 – Bringing Materials to Class • Ask yourself, “What materials do I need for this class?” • Gather the materials together. • Ask yourself. “Do I have everything I need?” • Recheck your materials and pack them up.
Term 1, Week 6 Skill 5 – Following Instructions • Listen carefully to the instructions. • Ask questions about anything you don’t understand. • Repeat the instructions to the person (or to yourself). • Follow the instructions.
Term 1, Week 7 Skill 10 – Ignoring Distractions • Count to five. • Say to yourself, “I won’t look. I’ll keep on working.” • Continue to work. • Say to yourself, “Good for me. I did it!”
Term 1, Week 8 Skill 7 – Contributing to Discussions • Decide if you have something you want to say. • Ask yourself, “Is this related to the discussion?” • Decide exactly what you want to say. • Raise your hand. • When you are called on, say what you want to say.
Term 1, Week 9 Skill 11 – Making Corrections • Look at the first correction. • Try to answer the question (or do the task) again. • If you don’t understand the question, ask someone. • Write in your new answer. • Say to yourself, “Good. That one is done.” • Go on to the next correction.
Term 1, Week 10 Skill 8 – Offering Help to an Adult • Decide if the adult needs your help. • Decide how to ask if you can help. • Ask yourself, “Is this a good time to offer help? • Ask the adult if you may help.
Term 2, Week 1 (Upper School) Skill 6 – Completing Assignments • Ask yourself, “Is my work finished?” • Look over each question to be sure. • When you are sure your work is finished, hand it in. • Say to yourself, “Good for me! I finished it!”
