  1. 6th Grade – Learn correct keyboarding! Mr. Devereaux---Room 229 Andrew.devereaux@evergreenps.org 604-3200x7109

  2. There are 20 lessons in the portion of Microtype that we will be using.Students also take numerous 3 minute timed test that reflects how fast they type and their accuracy.

  3. Each lesson has 7 tasks that teach the new keys. Students practice the keys in a game format at the end of the lesson.

  4. Each lesson has a row of tabs at the bottom of the screen. Students begin with the first tab until all tabs are checked.

  5. Keyboarding Grading Policy ...or how can I get an A?

  6. How am I graded? Technique = 30% Assignments = 40% Speed & Accuracy = 20% Professionalism = 10%

  7. Technique • ….the correct procedure by which a task is accomplished • You will be graded on posture, which includes feet on floor and back flat against the chair, using the correct fingers, and keeping your eyes on the screen.

  8. Assignments • …Task or duty finished • You need to complete an average of one and a half lessons per day • There are 20 lessons. You get 5pts for each lesson completed=100pts

  9. Speed • …rapidity, swiftness • The speed portion of your grade is based either on: • How many Gross Words a Minute or GWAM you type or… • How much your speed improves over the next 6 weeks

  10. Words per Minute 0 – 13 = F 14– 16 = D 17– 19 = C 20– 22 = B 23 – 25 = A

  11. Graded by GWAM ONLY GWAM = 16 which is a D+ GWAM 20 15 10 5 Test #1 Test #2 Final

Speed Test improvement chart • This chart represents the percentage improvement from pretest to final post test Improvement Percentage 100%-----10pts added to GWAM Score 90%-------9pts added to GWAM Score 80%----- -8pts added to GWAM Score 70%----- -7pts added to GWAM Score 60%----- -6pts added to GWAM Score 50%------ 5pts added to GWAM Score 40%------ 4pts added to GWAM Score 30%-------3pts added to GWAM Score 20%-------2pts added to GWAM Score 10%------ 1pts added to GWAM Score Less than 10%---- 0pts added to GWAM Score

  13. GRADED With Percentage Improved GWAM Grade only = 16 which is a D+ Percentage Improvement 8 GWAM to 16 GWAM=100% improvement which is 10 pts added to GWAM score GWAM=16 +10 Speed Improvement pts. =26 pts which equals an A Final grade for Sped is an A GWAM 20 15 10 5 Test #1 Test #2 Final

  14. Professional Habits Grade • ...An activity that promotes employability • Were you on time? • Did you show respect? • Were you prepared? • Were you a disruption to others?

  15. Professional Habits Grade • You start with an A • Each time you’re tardy you lose 4 points. • If you are a disruption to others you lose 4 pts for the day • If you are not prepared you lose 4pts

  16. You Earn Your Grade • I do not give A’s, B’s, C’s, D’s or F’s. • You achieve the above grades according to the choices you make. • Every choice has a consequence. • Only you can choose for yourself.

  17. The most important thing you can do is to learn the correct keystroke for each letter we are practicing.

  18. ASSESSMENT 1. You will not have to record your scores because MicroType will do it for you. 2.MicroType measures/records your speed and accuracy. 3.Students are expected to type 25 WPM with 95% accuracy by the end of the trimester. Grades: 5 points for every completed lesson-100 pts possible Getting to know you PowerPoint-----30pts possible (rubric will be presented at time of assignment)

  19. AWARDS… Each student who completes all 20 lessons will receive a certificate of completion. I will do class awards for the following categories Highest GWAM with the highest Percentage Most Improved according to Pre and Post Test Most Lessons Completed during the class
