Overview • Objective • Challenges • Key and Lock Mechanism • Deadbolt Parts • Latch (deadbolt) • Door Knob Parts • Latch (door knob) • Assembly • Animation
Objective • To graphically represent a keyed entry locking deadbolt and door knob system in Pro-Engineer Wildfire. • To create a deadbolt and door knob each incorporating a five-pin locking mechanism including a tumbler, cylinder, upper and lower pins, springs, and buffers. • To incorporate latches and door jams to demonstrate the functionality of the deadbolt and door knob in everyday life.
Challenges • We had to be extremely accurate in measuring the intricate parts that were involved in this project. • The actual modeling was difficult since each piece is complex and has ample detail, all of which is essential to the workings of the system. • The assembly was the most difficult of all since each mechanism involved several cam, slot, and spring connections.
