Wayfarer is a powerful tool designed by Tom Carlson from the National Center for State Courts to simplify searching and provide detailed information about GJXDM elements and types. It helps users search by names, definitions, and code lists, and offers comprehensive details about inheritance, properties, and derivation paths. Vagabond complements Wayfarer by assisting in wantlist creation for the SSGT. Stay updated with future plans for a NIEM version and enhanced graphical interface. Contact Tom Carlson for more information!

Wayfarer Demo Tom Carlson National Center for State Courts
The Problem • The GJXDM contains loads of inheritance • Mark Kindl is really, really smart and can remember them • I’m not that smart • So I wrote a tool to remember them for me
Searching the Model • Can search on names • Can search on definitions • Can search on entries in code lists • Can search contextual definitions
Info About Elements • Wayfarer provides detailed information about GJXDM elements: • Name, type, definition, and namespace • Properties an element can contain • Vice versa • All inherited properties! All of them! • Vice versa
Info About Types • Wayfarer provides equally detailed information about GJXDM types: • Name, definition, and namespace • Derivation path up to SuperType • Types derived from that type • Elements of that type • Elements somehow derived from that type
Other Features • Full code lists • FireFox Search Plug-in • Can show both alpha and schema ordering
Vagabond • Helps you create wantlists • Import the wantlists into the SSGT • By no means a replacement for the SSGT • Just makes wantlists • No import • No subset schemas • Just let's you stay in Wayfarer-World longer
Future Plans • NIEM version of Wayfarer and Vagabond • Possibly NIEM 1.0 • More likely NIEM 1.1 • Graphical interface • Different than the spiky ball • More UML-ish • Multiple levels of detail • When? • Beats me! Sometime in 2007, most likely
