  2. Main Points In the last 50 years, Sudan has encountered conflict and two civil wars that have led to the death of more than 2 million people. The president is Omar Hassan al-Bashir Running a representative democracy. There has been a 16-month conflict in Sudan’s border regions of South Kordofan & Blue Nile have desplaced & severely affected 908,000 people.

  3. Main Points (Continued…) There is a number of rebel groups who have called for a resignation of the government and the dissolution of legislative bodies. Conflicts include: An ongoing humanitarian crisis in Darfur since 2003, Tensions with South Sudan, Recovery from conflict in East Sudan, Clashes in oil-rich states bordering South Sudan. If the Peace deal concludes, then Sudan will have a sustainable future but it will take many years to repair the damages to communities in the worse affected areas.
