Group Dynamics: Definition &Purpose • Refers to a system of behaviors and psychological processes occurring within a group. • Even when faced with well structured group works students struggle because they lack skills necessary for working successfully in a group context.
Statement of Hypothesis The output of the group tasks can be positively effected by training students on group dynamics.
Issues arising within groups • Gap between current and desired performance. • Deviations from desired goals. • Relationship skills. • Difficulties in managing groups. • Inappropriate roles. • Uneven workload. • Unproductive communication. • Lack of coordination.
Intervention: Organized Training Training sessions with following focus points . • Communication. • Roles and responsibilities. • Ground rules. • Accountability. • Agenda.
Procedure • Divided the students into groups and gave the task of paragraph writing. • Checked the work did not find it up to the standard. • Spoke to the students about group dynamics. • Gave criteria related to group dynamics . • Asked the students to do the task of Paragraph writing again. • Checked student work. • Compared data.
Communication • Each person must contribute to the discussion but take turns to talk. • The leader of the group to encourage other members to share their views. • Question each other so that one is able to understand the thought process of the other member.
Ground rules (SLANT) • S- sit up straight • L- listen • A- answer & ask questions • N- nod to show interest • T- track the speaker
Supporting training tools used • Power point presentation to explain the Theory of Group Dynamics. • Case study • Team building kinesthetic games. • Visual aids emphasizing on team spirit.

Findings • Achieved Synergy in the groups . • The output of the group tasks were positively effected by training students on group dynamics. • Thus proving the hypothesis.
Student Gains • Good communication • Leadership skills • Coordination and Cooperation • Open Mindedness • Questioning and Analytical skills • Positive attitude towards each other & the subject • Learning by sharing • Time Management
