The goal of connecting cities and communities is to help implement SDG11 policies and related SDGs (1) by means of smart buildings solutions within compact neighborhood planning (2) smart mobility that is integrated and based on TOD and best practice (3) Smart and environmentally sustainable energy, water and waste management solutions Why? Cities are responsible for 70% 70% + 60% Energy Consumption Greenhouse Gas Emissions Waste

Future Living Work Plan, its Deliverables and Timing: Deliverable 1, Q3 2016:An interim report with city cases from both developed and emerging cities showing good practices in smart living, mobility and environment, lessons learned. The report will include at least 12 cases, together with an analysis of the common and specific challenges as well as key success factors such as leadership, governance, partnerships, business models and financing to provide the basis for high level recommendations and policy implications. The report will also identify the role of ICT as a key enabler in all the featured cases. Deliverable 2, Q3 2017: A more detailed report that builds on Deliverable 1 to propose an integrated approach to design and scale up smart living, mobility and environment solution both nationally and globally beyond pilots and demonstrative projects. The report to showcase how governance affects smart living, mobility and environment and how developing green economies can enhance living and environmental conditions.
