DID YOU KNOW… …The Salvation Army is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. ...83 cents of ever dollar we receive is provided in direct service to those less fortunate? ...the number of seniors 65 years of age and older living in poverty increased in 2005? At least 100,000 more seniors fell into poverty. -- www.census.gov ...37 million Americans were living in poverty in 2005? That's 12.6% of the total population! -- www.census.gov ...that you can send an inner-city kid to a week at summer camp for only $170? Instead of giving material gifts, your gift of camp gives an experience that will last a lifetime. ...that $30.60 is enough to provide an evening of rest in a homeless shelter? For less than a concert ticket, you can bring a man in off the streets.
Nationally, The Salvation Army spent a nickel of every dollar raised last year on fundraising expenses:
MARKETING AND PROMOTION PLAN FOR GIFT CARD COLLECTION PROGRAM This year, The Salvation Army has an exciting new opportunity to raise additional funds.
The Salvation Army has approved a contract to accept gift cards and redeem them for cash. These gift cards can be from ANYretail store and, regardless of the remaining balance, can be redeemed for cash.
Gift cards are among the most popular gifts during the holiday season and throughout the year. In 2007, it is estimated that $100 billion was spent on gift cards.
Someone receives a gift card for $25 and makes a purchase for $22.50. What happens to the remaining $2.50? In most cases it stays on the card in their wallet for a month or two and eventually gets thrown away.
Now you have the power to collect these cards and turn them into support for The Salvation Army programs! This could add up to millions of dollars in additional support for needy families.
It’s easy. All you have to do is follow three simple steps:
STEP 1 - PREPARE • Receive Collection Box Delivery and Removal Schedule • Receive Salvation Army Corps Officers Contact Information
STEP 2 - PRESENT • Salvation Army Corps Officers will install at the designated Branches • Signage • Card collection boxes
STEP 3 - PARTICIPATE • Post the information on the Bank of America Website • Notify your members that you are collecting unwanted gift cards with tag line on monthly statements
You’ll be surprised at how many people are carrying around old cards with a small balance and how thrilled they’ll be to come into the Bank of America Branches to do some good through a trusted organization like The Salvation Army.
