Weather and Global Warming. Madibuchanan.
What is Weather? • the state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc.
What is Climate? • the composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of a region, as temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, cloudiness, and winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years.
What is Global Warming? • an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect.
What is the same/different about climate and weather? • Weather is the current atmospheric conditions, including temperature, rainfall, wind, and humidity at any given place. • Climate, on the other hand, is the general weather conditions. For example, in the winter, summer and fall there are all different states of weather.
How is the global climate changing? • Is it getting warmer or colder? • It seems everyone has a different opinion, every place you look, there will be people arguing both sides. And there is information backing up both. • How do we know?
MAIN QUESTIONS: • If the climates cooling, why are we so worried aboutglobal warming? • I have found that everyone will have a different opinion, some people aren't even worried about global cooling, they think its warming. So everyone will have their own answer. • If the climates warming, what will eventually happen? • Melting of the polar caps. Increased sea levels would flood low-lying areas of Europe and the United States. The IPCC foresees extreme heat waves and droughts in middle-latitude continental areas as heat creates new deserts, heavy rainfall in temperate areas and high tides and heavy storms on the edges of the continents.
