  1. Accord Technique No 4, CLIC K. Schirm CERN, Geneva, Switzerland CSP 26_11_2010 K.Schirm, CERN

  2. The full CLIC scheme Not to scale!

  3. CLIC critical items Feasibility Items

  4. 4.1 Participation in beam studies and beam instrumentation for CALIFES and TBTS On schedule as planned. Wilfrid Farabolini is permanently at CERN. Excellent collaboration

  5. Califes Klystron and BOC Photo Injector waveguide RF distribution RF deflector for diagnostics Accelerating sections

  6. 4.2. Participation to CLIC Module DB MB • Complete ACS and WFM final design review: July 2010, see also paper presented at LINAC10: • http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1303298/files/CERN-ATS-2010-220.pdf • WFM: delivery by end of 2010. Components for two accelerating structures have been launched in production. Few waveguide components are still missing. • ACS: fabrication of three accelerating structures was launched in June at MecaChrome (FR), after a successful prototyping phase. At present the pre-machining of the disks is finished, including annealing before UHP machining. The assembly of the two accelerating structures is expected in the 1st quarter of 2011. Bonding tests have been organized with Thales (FR) from January 2010. • Germana RIDDONE

  7. Status CLEX (CLIC Experimental Area) existing building Beam from CR/TL2 Test Beam Line TBL Two Beam Test Stand Probe Beam All Beam lines installed, except TBL and operated with beam ! (ITB is not part of the base-line programme)

  8. Test Beam Line TBL • High energy-spread beam transport • decelerate to 50 % beam energy • Drive Beam stability • Stability of RF power extraction • total power in 16 PETS: 2.5 GW • Alignment procedures PETS prototype 5 MV/m deceleration (35 A) 165 MV output Power PETS development: CIEMAT BPM: IFIC Valencia and UPC Barcelona 2 standard cells, 16 total

  9. 4.3 12 GHz RF network for 8 PETS in TBL Sixteen 90-deg waveguide bends under fabrication, delivery planned for Mid December 2010. A high power load prototype with pick up has been designed. A call for tender for realization was done and results are expected next week. It is expected that this prototype would be ready for testing at CERN in April 2011. In case the high power test is successful a small series of this loads will be made which would use up the remaining funds. The exact number of this series will be determined later. Steffen Doebert

  10. 4.4.Construction of a 12 GHz Test Stand: Modulator The modulator has been installed in the klystron gallery in May 2010The modulator has been acceptance tested with dummy load in September 2010Final acceptance testing with klystron now proceeding (visit of gallery in the afternoon) White paper CSP 26_11_2010 K. Schirm, CERN

  11. 4.6.Construction of a 12 GHz Test Stand: RF network and components Component activities in full swing. Excellent share of work between CEA and CERN (Conc. Design – drawing office - production - testing). Extension into 2011 expected. K. Schirm

L.Rinolfi

  15. 4.10 1.5 GHz Klystron • Klystron ready for FAT (scheduled for Dec. 2010) • Acceptance at CERN expected in Jan. 2011
