PURPOSE OF NYAA PROGRAMME • Is non-competitive – those with • special needs can also participate • Anyone with the necessary • perseverance, enterprise and effort • can gain an Award
RATIONALE - WHY • School programmes already • aligned to NYAA requirements • Pupils earn CCA points for • achievement in NYAA bronze

(HOW) CRITERIA FOR BRONZE AWARD • Participants are required to complete four • compulsory sections: • Adventurous Journey – to encourage a spirit of adventure, teamwork and an appreciation for the outdoors and the environment • Requirement: to undertake 2 days outing, including one night in an unfamiliar setting and at least 12 hours of effort and activity
CRITERIA FOR BRONZE AWARD • Physical Recreation – to promote good health and meeting challenges, create a lasting sense of achievement and satisfaction • Requirement: To select a form of physical recreation and follow it regularly for at least 20 hours spread over a period of 8 weeks
CRITERIA FOR BRONZE AWARD • Skills – to pursue and persist in an interest, resulting in a sense of creativity and personal discovery • Requirement: To choose a skill and follow it regularly for at least 6 months
CRITERIA FOR BRONZE AWARD • Service to others – to develop a sense of responsibility toward the community • Requirement: To provide at least 15 hours of service spread over a period of 3 months
