Analyze Learners • This unit focuses on seven and eight year olds. • It is a lesson for students in the 2nd or 3rd grade.
State Objectives • SC.3.5.2-explain a simple problem and identify a specific solution describing the use of tools and/or materials to solve the prblem or to complete the task. • SC.3.6.3.-develop respect and responsibility for the environment by engaging in conservation practices.
State Objectives • SC.2.4.5-observe and compare simple models of different kinds of habitats, including a forest and a stream. • SC.2.4.16-compare seasonal changes. • SC.2.6.1-listen to and be tolerant of different viewpoints while working in collaborative groups.

Utilize Media and Materials Day 1 • Introduce the rainforest lesson • Show different pictures of the rainforest • Give students handouts • Discuss the rainforest
Day 2 • Learn where the rainforest are located • Discuss the Amazon Rainforest • Discuss the African Rainforest • Students do a worksheet for a grade • Participation grade
Day 3 • Types of animals in the rainforest • Their habitat and where they live • Identify animals from pictures • Do a worksheet on animal location • Do coloring sheet with correct color of the animal
Day 4 • Types of climate and weather • Use internet to find out the weather • Small paragraph on the site they used • Have a class discussion • Do a crossword puzzle
Day 5 • Teach the different types of dangers the rainforests face • Play game about dangers to the rainforest • Put students in groups • Have them make a poster about the dangers • Poster needs a slogan and be decorated • Will be hung up in the school
Require Leaner Participation • I used a variety of activities for students who learn different ways • I used fun and creative activities like the game and poster for students who learn better by hands on activities. • I used more difficult activities like the worksheets and the internet activities for the more advanced students
Evaluate and Revise • Overall learning about the rainforest • Group project • Computer activity • Participation • Rainforest game
