34. Announcements 1. PSS, UNSD Co-host Regional Workshop on Data Dissemination and Communication The Philippine Statistical System (PSS) through the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) is co-hosting the Regional Workshop on Data Dissemination and Communication (RWDDC) with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) on 20-22 June 2012. This is the first time that the PSS will be co-hosting the said event. Venue will be announced later. The RWDDC is part of a global series of workshops on data dissemination and communication that aims to provide a forum for sharing national practices and experiences in the dissemination of statistical data and metadata. The participants of this Workshop will include representatives from (a) national statistical offices of member-countries in the Asia Pacific region, (b) country/national focal agency on data dissemination, and (b) international organizations.

35. Announcements 2. Call for entries to the 4th NSM Media Awards The NSCB is calling for entries to the 4th National Statistics Month (NSM) Media Awards. This award recognizes the important role of media practitioners specifically reporters from print and online news service from both the government and private media organizations, who have made significant contributions in promoting, popularizing, and using statistics in information dissemination and other relevant purposes. The mechanics and criteria of the Awards will be posted on 11 June 2012 at the NSM Media Awards website at http://www.nscb.gov.ph/nsm/MediaAwards. 36. Announcements 3. NSCB to release the 2009 Poverty Statistics for Basic Sectors The NSCB will release the 2009 Poverty Statistics for the Basic Sectors on 7 June 2012. In accordance with NSCB Resolution No. 11, Series of 2007, this will provide poverty statistics for the following: · Women; · Youth; · Children; · Senior citizens; · Individuals residing in urban areas; · Workers in the formal sector and migrant workers; · Farmers-peasant; and · Artisanal fisherfolk.

Announcements In response to the need for more relevant statistics on poverty and employment, this year’s release will also include poverty statistics for the following: ·Employed population; ·Self-employed and unpaid family workers; and ·Unemployed population.
