  1. ADANI GROUP TO BUILD A THERMAL POWER PLANT IN MIRZAPUR

  2. The Adani Group is on its journey to start work on a huge thermal power project. It is planning to construct a1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Mirzapur. This initiative is a part of the company’s strategy to increase its thermal power capacity from 15.25 GW to 30.67 GW by 2030. This number indicates a double of the company’s present capacity. Mirzapur Thermal Energy is leading the project. The company is a subsidiary of Adani Power. The project is expected to require an investment ofINR 14,000 crore.

  3. The Mirzapur Thermal Power Plant: • The Mirzapur Thermal Energy Private Limited was initially a part of the Welspun Group. Adani Power acquired the company in 2019. It has been operating under the Adani Group since then. This project will help the Adani Group increase its hold over the thermal power sector. It will also be able to increase our country’s power supply. This will mitigate the power scarcity in different regions of India. This project is also one of the biggest thermal power projects taken up by the Adani Group after the Adani Bangladesh project. The project is a part of the Adani Group’s strategy to increase its thermal portfolio further.

  4. The Engagement With BHEL: • The Adani Group has elaborate plans to ensure that the project operations get carried out smoothly. It has already engaged with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the project’s supervision and equipment supply. The company has already awarded a contract ofINR 3,500 crore to BHEL. BHEL will be supervising the commissioning and erection of the new facilities. It will also ensure that the industrial standards are met for super critical technology which is known for its lower emissions and its high level of efficiency. It will ensure that the project operations get carried out in a streamlined way.

  5. The Use of Ultra-Supercritical Technology: • Ultra-supercritical technology (USC) has a big role to play in streamlining the operations of the thermal power plant. It brings economic viability and environmental benefits to the same platform. It is an extremely important choice for sustainable power generation. It also helps enhance the power generation efficiency. The USC boilers operate at a high temperature and pressure. This results in improved efficiency. It also achieves a much higher efficiency as compared to the supercritical and subcritical plants.
