  1. ADANI GROUP SETS NEW DEADLINE FOR DUE PAYMENTS FOR ITS GODDA PROJECT

  2. The Adani Group, one of the biggest global conglomerates, has set July as the deadline for the Bangladesh government to pay the outstanding power bills for power supplied from the Adani Godda power plant to Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) has received a letter from the Indian conglomerate on this matter.

  3. ADANI'S NEW DEADLINE TO THE BANGLADESH GOVERNMENT: The Adani Group has set a new deadline of July 2025 for the Bangladesh interim government to pay the dues for the power supplied by the Godda power plant. Earlier also, the Adani Group had sent a letter to the Bangladesh authorities setting 7th November 2024 as the deadline to pay the bills. At that time, the company put pressure on the government and gave the warning of shutting down production at one of the units of the Adani Godda power plant.

  4. AN OVERVIEW OF THE ADANI GODDA POWER PLANT: The Adani Godda power plant is situated in the Godda district of Jharkhand. The coal-fired two-unit power plant has a total generational capacity of 1,600 MW. As per the power purchase agreement which was signed between the Adani Group and the Bangladesh Government, Bangladesh will buy electricity from the plant for a total span of 25 years. The first unit of the plant acquired commercial operations in April 2023.

  5. A compromise on the bill payment was reached when the Adani Group was forced to shut down a unit of the Adani Godda power plant in November 2024. Then the Adani Group again resumed power production in the closed unit. The PDB also opened new letters of credit in order to pay the bills for the outstanding amounts. Currently, loans are being paid under the letters of credit. The Adani Group has been producing power using one unit of the plant as the demand for electricity reduces in winter. Both the units of the plant are likely to go into production during the summer from March.
