  2. + Background Information • ABA - Binational Center, founded in 1988 - approx. 3,600 students - 2 schools - Great Place to Work 2008, 2009, 2010 • Me - Teaching since 1993 - Mostly groups from High Intermediate on

  3. TheProblem • Students in fluent levels (high intermediate on) don’t write as well as expected • Their writings are short • The structure / vocabulary used do not reflect the level they are in • Students are notmotivated / engaged in thewritingtasks What could we do???

  4. Idea # 1  MINI WRITINGS Create 4 or 5 writingpromptsonthesametopic – theonebeingdiscussed in class Have 10’ writingstorms in class, oneat a time Endoftheunit – fromstorms to anessay
