BSE and Government Support • 2003 discovery of BSE resulted in significant loss to livestock producers and the Canadian livestock industry • Government responded through the creation of several support programs In the 2006-07 fiscal year federal and provincial governments contributed $8.4 billion to support the agriculture and agri-food industry.
