State Authorization • News: Department of Ed negotiated rulemaking to revive federal state authorization is underway. DOE will reinstate federal regulations that require institutions to be authorized in each state in which the institution has a presence. http://wcetblog.wordpress.com/ • WSAC will apply to SARA in April http://www.wiche.edu/sara • Washington institutions will be able to apply to WSAC in May or June. Cost $1250 per institution per year • Another cost to national SARA based on college size (between $2000 and $6000 per year) • All colleges are required to provide information to ALL students on the complaint process in their home state. IGNIS • IGNIS has ended for the season. We’ll start taking ideas for next season this fall.
Training • The newest CNVS-101 training course cartridge is in the SBCTC Shared eLearning Repository. Be sure to read the “What’s New in this Version?” page for a summary of the latest revisions. • A Panopto Training module has been added to the repository and is filling up rapidly. Thank you everyone for sharing! • The SLOAN sign-up form re-opened at 9 AM this morning with 100 open seats. As of 10 AM, we had 75 left. • The 5th edition of the QM rubric will be released in August. All Peer Reviewers must complete a short online training class by November 30th in order to maintain their Peer Reviewer status. SBCTC does not pay the fee for this course.

Competency Based Project Goal: To develop an 18-course competency-based, online, openly licensed business transfer degree. Students enroll in six-month terms, work at their own pace and get regular credit when they achieve 80% or better mastery of all competencies in the courses. Timeline: • June Course development begins • July Work begins on advising and financial aid procedures • August CBC hires teaching faculty • September Marketing materials available for use by Pilot Colleges • Nov/Dec Pilot Colleges admit and enroll students • January Students begin taking courses
