History • Scottish Government asked ISD to develop SDMD to enable the collection of follow-up information on clients in treatment for drug misuse. • Total number in treatment • Length of time in treatment • Changes which occur over time in drug use and social circumstances • Interventions
Moving from Paper Forms • Data model - Now capturing a client’s full EPISODE OF CARE • New data items – dependent children, BBV, alcohol profile, Interventions offered etc. • Coverage across Scotland, not just ADP, HB or LA • Information will not be shared between agencies. • Full Named data is collected on the web-system
Data Model Submission intervals: • Initial report after assessment • Follow-ups at 3 months and then annually • Transfer/ Referral • Discharge

Where are we now? • Enhanced SDMD development complete • Training rolled out • Implementation on ADP by ADP basis throughout 2008 – 2010 • Whole country now ‘live’ with the web-system • Mop-up training sessions being provided as required
