  4. Freshman Registration • Placement or English, Math, Science, and Social Studies will be based on the student’s EXPLORE scores.

  5. Summer Reading • Advanced Honors English I • Summer reading is required • Will count on your first six weeks’ grade • Standard English I • Summer reading is recommended, but optional • Will count as extra credit on your first six weeks’ grade • Reading lists will be posted: • www.rcs.k12.tn.us

  6. Wellness & ROTC • Wellness • Wellness Football • ROTC • 2 years required • Fulfills Wellness & PE requirements • Additional PE credit will be taken in 10th grade • PE requirement may be met by participating in ROTC, Band, or LHS Athletics

  7. Fine Arts • Visual Art I • General Music • Theater Arts I • Mixed Choir • Beginning Band • Marching/Concert Band

  8. Tennessee HOPE Scholarship • $4,000 for 4-year institutions and 2-year institutions with on-campus housing • $2,000 for 2-year institutions • Minimum 21 ACT (Composite)/980 SAT (Math + Critical Reading ONLY) on a national test date OR • Final cumulative 3.0 GPA for entering freshmen • For more info go to: www.tn.gov/CollegePays

  9. Graduate with Honors • Score at or above all of the college readiness benchmarks on the ACT • ACT Benchmarks: • English 18 • Math 22 • Reading 21 • Science 24

Graduate with Distinction • Students must attain a B average (3.0) and complete at least one of the following: • earn a nationally recognized industry certification • participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools • participate in one of the state’s All State musical organizations • be selected as a National Merit Finalist of Semi-Finalist • attain a score of 31 or higher composite score on the ACT • attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two advanced placement exams • successfully complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme • earn 12 or more semester hours of transcripted postsecondary credit

  11. Valedictorian Criteria • 4.0 GPA • Taken a minimum of twelve (12) honors or above honors level courses • Meet all requirements for a student graduating with honors • Meet all requirements for student graduating with distinction

Tennessee Scholars(Sign up with your counselor) • May complete additional requirements to become a TN Scholar • Additional course requirements • 95% or better attendance • 80 hours community service • Maintain C average all 4 years • Benefits of being a TN Scholar • Additional options for success after graduation • Scholarships opportunities; Including increased Pell Grants if eligible • Job preferential hiring • Awards and other incentives • Higher ACT Scores • Less Remediation in college • Prestige – TN Scholars are recognized all over the USA
