SYTLIZED PAINTING Try a new style!
What does “Stylized” mean? • Following a particular style or method of painting - rather than trying to represent reality.
Whatever style you choose it needs to be consistent through out the painting.
How do I find ideas for different styles? • Look at different artists like Henri Rousseau.
Illustrators and cartoonists often have distinctive styles, like Arthur Rackham.
For your painting you will be looking at the 7 elements of art: • Line • Shape • Color • Texture • Value • Form • Space
You will choose 2 of the elements to alter in some way. THE REST OF THE ELEMENTS STICK TO REALISM. • What elements did this artist alter?
Which elements were altered in these art works by SHHS students?
So, pick what you want to paint then: • Write down which 2 elements you will alter. • Describe exactly how you will alter them. • Decide the steps you will go through to accomplish you art work. • Draw some thumb nail sketches to plan composition.
