  1. Chur-Robot Team Churro: Sharon Grimshaw, Maggie Su, Louis Yi, Morgan Zheng

  2. Revisited Goals • Safe and sturdy • All connected to one • Easy to use and maintain • One container to load • Cooking time preset • User choice in length and shape of churro

  3. Logistics • Schedule • Still a little behind schedule • Planned to have two prototypes, changed to one virtual prototype (continually updated) and one physical prototype (modified to match the virtual prototype) • Realized that we didn’t have all the parts we needed so we had to do a second round of ordering • Trouble with what voltage to use, 5V or 12V • Budget (currently at $130) • Getting closer to the $250 but still on track to be under-budget

  4. Mechanical: Overview

  5. Mechanical: Modifications Left: Extruder device Right: Exchanger

  6. Mechanical: More Modifications in progress Sugar tray shaker Churro ramp

  7. Mechanical: Current Look NEXT STEP: Fully assembling and testing subsystems

  8. Electrical: Overview

  9. Electrical: Problems • Steppers • Speed/Torque • Stopping • Servos • Power draw • Thermocouple • Amplifier connections

  10. User Input Mechanical: Buttons Software: GUI Pros: • Easier to keep clean • Simple to make Cons: • Require Arduino pins • Where to place within system? Pros: • Easy to understand • More options to choose from • Less Arduino pins Cons: • Laptop near food • Complicates use of Arduino libraries • Overcomplicating user input?

  11. Next Steps • Finish construction of the mechanical system • Solving current issues – transistors, cutting power during holding, DC motor • Determine how to interface Arduino/thermocouple • Testing electrical/software with mechanical system

  12. Questions, Comments, or Concerns?
