  2. Insects are the most diverse and numerous of the arthropods. 1.1 million different species.

  3. Characteristics of insects The body is divided in three segments:l • Head which contains the eyes and the antennae.

  4. Characteristics of insects • Thorax where the six legs are attached, and two or four wings.

  5. Characteristics of insects • Abdomen which contains the heart and stomach

  6. Insect Life Cycle Metamorphosis is the process by which all insects mature.

  7. Different kinds of metamorphosis • Gradual metamorphosis: the simplest form of metamorphosis.

  8. Complete metamorphosis which includes four stages: • Egg • Larva • Pupa • Adult

  9. Habitat • Insects can be found in almost every habitat from lush rainforest to the harshest of deserts.

  10. How do insects stay safe? • Camouflage • Sharp spikes

  11. How do insects stay safe? • Foul odor • Venom
