  2. Inertia • The tendency of an object to resist change in motion.

  3. speed • speed is calculated by dividing distance by time. Example: mile per hour

  4. Velocity • is speed (distance over time) plus DIRECTION. • example: 35 mph North

  5. Acceleration • is a change in velocity • example: speeding up, slowing down, or changing direction

  6. friction • a force caused by two surfaces rubbing together and works against the motion.

  7. Weight • the measurement of the gravitational pull on an object.

  8. Air resistance • a force that opposes the motion of objects through the air.

  9. Projectile • An object that has both horizontal & vertical motion as it follows an arched path due to gravity & the force of being “thrown,”

  10. Centripetal force • a force that causes an object to follow a curved path.

  11. Gravity • a force of attraction between objects which depends on the mass of the objects & how close they are to each other.
