Who Is Big Rivers? • G&T Cooperative, Formed In 1961 • Generating Capacity Leased To LEC Through 2023 • Owns 1,459MW Net • Leases 217 of 312MW Net • LEM PPA: 597MW through 2010 • SEAP Allocation 178MW (1,500 hrs.) • Owns and Operates 1,210 Miles Of Transmission Lines, 18 Substations and 4 Switching Stations

Who Is Big Rivers (Cont.)? • Three Members (Jackson Purchase Energy Corp., Kenergy Corp. and Meade County RECC) • Member All-Requirements contracts expire January 1, 2023 • Alcan 366MW and Century 484MW: All-Requirements “carve-out” (Big Rivers has no all-requirements service obligation) • Approx. 105,600 Retail Customers • Member Tariff Peak Demand: 664MW on July 29, 1999 (50MW Weyerhaeuser co-generation facility in-service July 1, 2000 (Excludes Alcan and Century)

Security Concerns • Every Scada a target for power disruption • Open Source verses Proprietary Source - Are bad guys adding back doors to apps - Are good guys watching to protect user - Are you sure code ok in proprietary code • Hackers are no longer using easy entries - Hackers are trying to break applications - Hackers going for opening in clients and tunnel with VPN’s or Secure Shells

Final Comments • There is no Perfect Operating System - No Individual or Group can write flawless code - No individual can know everything about the operating system or application - No dispatcher can always make perfect decisions even with the best information a system can provide • The Best Security is Isolation … not always possible!
