Agenda • WIPO Legal Status Survey • PATENTSCOPE’s Legal Status strategy • More information on National Phase Entries
WIPO Legalstatussurvey Performed in 2010 (questionnaire sent to all member offices) See http://www.wipo.int/patentscope/en/programs/legal_status/index.html Beingreviewedwith focus on systems Update to bepublished in PATENTSCOPE whenfinalized
PATENTSCOPE legal status strategy • NOT yet a priority (may appear as objective for next biannium) • Duplicating current IMPADOC would not bring additional benefits to users • Inherent very DIFFICULT task: • many different sources of information • Data not standardized • «Versatile» data: difficult to stay synchronized • Federated registers approach with PATENTSCOPE linking to national registers preferred
PCT national phase entries • Information received from 47 offices (last ones since 2011: AT, NZ, CU, TH) • Newly added last month: India • Still a challenge to receivecomplete and timely PCT NPEsfrom PCT member states (147 contracting states) • Updated once a week in PATENTSCOPE • Sent to EPO for inclusion in INPADOC whenauthorized by the source office
PCT national phase data • CSV or XML format: • Office Code (ST.3 uppercase: e.g. KR) • PCT IA number (format: PCT/ROYYY/NNNNNN) • National Application Number • Status Code: • E: National Phase Entry (mandatory) • P: National Publication (optional) • R: Refusal (optional) • G: Grant (optional) • W:withdrawal (optional) • Date of action (yyymmdd) • Sent to EPO for inclusion in INPADOC whenauthorized by the source office
