Why the SII screen? • 2nd NEISS screen on SII – 3 pilots (Thank you!) • Aims • More info - persons with self-inflicted injury presenting to EDs • Identify substances - self-harm poisonings • Track substances over time • Early warning system - emerging problems • To inform more in-depth studies

  3. Purpose • To discuss how CDC uses data • To show results from 1st 6 weeks • (June 1 – July 12, 2004; 521 cases) • To discuss problem areas or uncertainties • Intent (coding exercise)
