  2. History • Created 1901 in Falkirk • Recipe only known to 2 people • Now made in Cumbernauld • Apparently has a citrus flavour • In reality can only be described as ‘phenomenal’ • Bright orange colouring • Hangover cure

Ingredients • Secret recipe of 32 syrups • “Made in Scotland from Girders” • Contains 0.002% Ammonium ferric citrate • Other ingredients include: • Carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, caffeine, quinine, E211, E110 (sunset yellow), E124 • E110 illegal in Norway and Finland • UK phasing out in 2009 • E124 illegal in U.S.A.

  6. 2. Sugar and flavourings prepared • Moved into batch tanks • They are mixed and prepared to be added in preset order 3. Water and syrup mixed using proportioners • Regulate flow rates and ratios 4. Carbonation • Carbon dioxide added to finished mixture for ‘fizz’
