  1. Spiders By Evan Jerrard

  2. A spider has a lot of eyes. A jumping spider has 8 eyes. That can help them from sneak attacks.

  3. Spiders have fangs which they use to bite their prey. This helps them get their food easily. The fangs contain a poison that kills insects.

  4. Spiders build webs to catch their prey. The webs are really sticky, so when insects touch the web, they stick to it. Then the spider goes to the web and looks at what it’s caught. Then the spider wraps it up before it eats it.

  5. The trapdoor spider makes a little den and has a door for it to catch bugs. How does it catch bugs with a door? When a insect crawls by the den with the door closed, in a split second, the spider grabs the bug, and pulls it in the den, to have a nice dinner.

  6. How do spiders make their webs? At the back of the abdomen, there are things called spinnerets. • They shoot out silk, the material that makes the web.

  7. There are 2 main body parts on the spider. The front or the cephalothorax, and the abdomen, the bottom part of the spider. The spider’s mouth, eyes, stomach, pedipalps or the feelers, and the 8 legs are all connected to the cephalothorax. The abdomen is where the silk is produced to make the webs, and come out of the spinerets.

  8. Fun Facts The female black widow spider is 100X the weight of a male black widow. The spitting spider traps insects by spitting on them! It spits a sticky glue from its fangs. This keeps the prey stuck to the ground so it cannot escape. Only a few species of spiders are poisonous to humans.
