DSP • In communication systems, the received waveform is usually categorized into the desired part containing the information and the extraneous or undesired part. • The desired part is called signal: voltage as a function of time or current as a function of time • The undesired part is called noise • Digital Signal Processing • Signal carries some kind of information available for observation • Processing means to extract some useful information. It will be a nondestructive ‘transformation’ of the given data signal • Digital means that the processing is done with digital computer / hardware

Useful Links • http://www.dspguru.com/ • dspGuru's purpose is to promote resource-sharing among DSP designers. As a center for DSP information exchange, dspGuru has several goals: • To provide "how to" information about DSP: tutorials for beginners, tips and insights of interest to intermediate and advanced DSPers. • To provide online reference information. • To provide a comprehensive, well-organized, and up-to-date set of DSP links to help you quickly locate DSP resources on the 'net. • To coordinate the development of "open source" software for use in Digital Signal Processing. This is our OpenDSP (sm) intiative.
