Logging into MOODLE Go to www.bcschools.net Select MOODLE
Moodle Home Screen Select Log in
Log in or Create an Account Enter your username and password Users/students can create their own accounts by following the directions below If you choose to have students create their own accounts please contact me (Amy Basket); I will need to confirm users before they are able to access your class.
Select your School or Location Check left side of screen to make sure you are logged in. Scroll down through the Course Categories to find your school or location.
Samples of Courses Courses at each location Courses are named by topic and instructor Courses with a face include a forum Courses with a key have an enrollment key that needs to be entered Courses with an “i” have a description that can be read without enrolling in the course
Blank Course Shell Participants—who are currently enrolled in your class Topics --Where you will load your subject area content, quizzes, assignments, etc. Administration Area --turn on editing to make changes to the course --settings to add more topic sections, add an enrollment key, change the size allowed to be uploaded, etc. --grades if you use the quiz or upload assignment feature
Editing and Adding Content The first section under the topic outline is the title section for your course/class. It will always be visible. First topic section. This area will need a title and description of what you would like the students to accomplish or view in this area.
How to Add Content and Resources The hand holding the pencil allows you to edit the text for this section or module. You can also add a resource to any section. Your choices are a label, text page, webpage, link to a file or a website, a directory, or an IMS Content package. The ? in the circle will take you to a help page that will explain the resources in more detail
Resources--Label Type your label in the text box. Use the drop down menus to adjust your font to your preference
Adding Text to a Label Make sure you highlight the text and then make the changes in font, size and style. This title is Trebuchet 18pt bold. Don’t forget click Save changes
Resources—Link to a file 1. Name your file 2. Write a summary about the file 3. Click on “choose or upload a file”
Uploading a file from your H:Drive 1. Click on Upload a file 2. Click on Browse 3. Select a file from your H:Drive. Once you get to the location of the file you wish to upload; double click on the file
Uploading a file from your H:Drive The name of your file should appear in the box. You will see a lot of location information and at least the beginning of the title of the file. Click on “Upload this file”. Finally select CHOOSE.
Resources—Link to a file Your file should now appear in the location box. Change this to “new window” Save and return to course
Resources The blue link is how your file is available to students. This file will open in Word. It is probably best to upload PDF files so they can be read with any system.
Resources—Adding a website link Go to the Add a Resource drop down menu again Select “Link to a file or website” This take you to the same window as adding a file. Name your Link Write a quick summary Then click Search for a Web page… This will take you to a search engine such as Google
Searching for a Website In this case I am uploading a video link from YouTube. I use the title of the clip as my title and the description of the clip for my summary. Next I copy the URL from the address bar.
Resources –Adding a website link Paste the URL directly into the Location box. Make sure you do not have http 2 times. This will cause an error. Make sure you have the website opening in a new window. Click Save and return to course.
Adding Activities There are multiple activities you and add to your course. Uploading a file Forum Quiz
Single File Upload Name your assignment Write a short description Assign the number of points it will be worth. Select when it will be available . You may disable the date for one or both. Determine if you will allow late work. Determine if you will allow the assignment to be resubmitted. Save and return to course.
Example of An Assignment Name your assignment: Reflection Paper Write a short description: What need to be done in the assignment. Assign the number of points it will be worth. Grade: 50pts max Assignment is available from Feb. 4-Feb 6 Late work is not allowed. A student can resubmit an assignment.

How to Create a Quiz—The Basics Name the Quiz Write a short introduction Determine when the quiz will open Determine when the quiz will close Set a time limit if you chose If multiple attempts are allowed determine the amount of time that must pass before another attempt can be made. Determine how many attempts can be made Determine grading method and if any penalties for incorrect answers are applied.
How to Create a Quiz—The Basics Determine the level of security you want for this quiz. Write feedback for students when they hit certain scoring benchmarks. Click SAVE AND DISPLAY This will take you to the question bank
Writing Quiz Questions There are currently no questions in this quiz. Choose a type of question you would like to create. You may create multiple choice, multiple answer, true/false, matching, etc.
Writing a Multiple Choice/Multiple Answer Question Name the question Write the question prompt Determine if this is a multiple choice or multiple answer question
Multiple Choice Answers Write an answer Determine the grade If only one answer then give grade 100% If it is a multiple answer question apply the percentage that is appropriate. Ex. 3 correct answers then select 33.333% for each correct answer.
