  2. Defoliant (n) A chemical that causes the leaves of a plant to fall off. The defolianteffectively got rid of the bugs by removing their food source.

  3. Exfoliate(v) To strip of leaves or other substance. After the excess branches were exfoliated, we could see the tender buds that would eventually become apricots.

  4. Unifoliate (adj) Having one leaf per branch. While the leaves on the zantho plant might be unifoliate, they are some of the largest leaves found in foliage.

  5. Folic Acid (n) A vitamin contained in leafy green vegetables. Spinach is rich in folic acid, a vitamin that is healthy for your body.

  6. Bifoliate (adj) Having two leaves per stem. For my science project, I wanted to determine if a bifoliate plant required more water than a unifoliate one.
