Culture Two Different groups of people called the Great Smokey Mountains home but had opposing ideas. * Cherokee Indians • were the first people of the mountains • Lived 1212 • 800 years • forced to leave the land 1800 Early settlers came into the area in the Told the Cherokee to walk to Oklahoma
Waterways • Rainbow Falls-Located in the North of the National Park. • 80 feet high • Laurel Falls-Also located in the north of the park. • 80 feet high • Abraham Falls-Located in the north of the park. • 20 feet high
Rocks and Minerals • Most of the rocks in the great smoky mountains National park are sedimentary and were by accumulations of clay ,silt, sand, gravel and minor amounts of calcium carbide in flat-lying layers. • Gold-most rocks in the great smoky mount ions are sedimentary • Clay-They where formed out of clay, self, sand, gravel and minor amounts of calcium and carbonate. • Copper- the oldest rocks are 800-545 years old.
