  6. The Sphinx’s Nose There are lots of rumours surrounding the missing nose of the Egyptian Sphinx. Some say it was used as target practice by Napoleon’s troops, some that it was destroyed when a pharaoh found his workers praying to the sphinx and many believe it simply eroded and fell off with time. Today, you are taking on the role of an explorer who has just created a time machine to take you back to Ancient Egypt. Can you find out what really happened to the Sphinx’s Nose?

  7. Hieroglyphics Hieroglyphs is made from two Greek words: hieros meaning holy glyphe meaning writing So hieroglyph means holy writing. Over 5000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians wrote things down using a picture writing called hieroglyphics.
