Setting off • Please bring your child to school at the usual time on Monday as we will set off at around 10:00 - 10:30. • Please bring your child’s bag round to the Art room at the start of the day. • Your child will have to carry their bag to their dorm so consider size/weight! • Medicine to the school office before Friday 23rd Marchplease in a named envelope. 2 inhalers, one carried by your child if needed and a spare.

  3. Travel • Travel company is LA approved. • Journey is about 50 minutes. • If children need travel sickness tablets, they will need to be brought in before Friday 23rd March in their original packaging.

  4. Adults • Mrs Stacey • Mrs Neale • Miss Jones • Mr Cooper • Miss Dwain • Mrs Packham • Children will be in groups of 12 or 13 • Each group has a member of school staff with them at all times.

  5. Accomodation • The children sleep in small dormitories in bunk beds. • We will try to make sure everyone is with a friend. • Marlcliffe staff are in rooms on the same corridor so if the children get up at night there are adults available.

  6. Safety • Visit is approved by school Governors and Local Authority. • All staff are CRB checked and highly trained. • Safety instructions are given for every activity and helmets, lifejackets worn when needed. • Centre is secure with ID that all visitors have to wear. • Buildings secure at night and staff on duty.

  7. Emergencies • Contact details are held by all adults on the visit. • School also has copies. • The centre phone number is 01709771010 Please use in emergencies only not to check they are ‘ok!’

  8. Food! • Kingswood meals are very ‘child friendly’ and the children are asked what they would like. Different diets are catered for. • Drinks are always available as are healthy snacks like fruit. • Children will need to bring a drink and a packed lunch for the first day of the trip.

  9. Activities • There are 4 activities per full day as well as a night time activity. • Climbing, kayak, bush craft, zip wire, laser, nightline. • Children are encouraged to take part. • Lots of opportunities for team building.

  10. Rules • We expect excellent behaviour at all times. • Children who do not follow instructions will be asked to sit out and watch the activity for safety reasons. • No electrical items, mobile phones etc • No aerosols as set off fire alarms

  11. Clothing • Please do NOT send new clothes! • Your child will get wet and muddy. • Tracksuits are ideal, not jeans as they can rub when wet. • Lots of layers and extra socks. • Lip salve is good. • Names in clothes please if want returned. • Plastic bags for wet/muddy clothes will help.

  12. Information for parents • We will be using a blog to update you over the course of the trip – details to follow. • Children must not bring mobiles - there is poor reception at the centre anyway. If absolutely necessary we will arrange for your child to speak to you through the centre’s phone.

  13. Return • We will be leaving about 1:30pm • Hope to return by about 2:30 • The children should be collected from school at the normal time. Their cases will be returned to the art room.

  14. The Blog • This will be our main point of contact with parents and school. • We will add photographs, updates and messages. • Your child will only appear on the blog if you have given us photograph permission for the website – please ask if you wish to change this.
