THE PROJECT QUALIFICATION is a new qualification from AQA
Students from all Kingswood Partnership schools will be doing the Project Qualification this year • The Project Qualification is the chosen assessment for Post 16 ‘core’ programmes in the Partnership • Post 16 students do Projects at Higher or Advanced level (Level 2 or 3 of the National Qualifications Framework)
YOU CAN… • explore an aspect of a subject you are studying (you MUST do this if you are taking a Diploma) • choose a topic in which you have a personal interest • do a project about an issue that concerns you
YOU SHOULD… • combine 2 or more of your subjects if you can • relate your project choice to what interests and concerns you • think about your future progression when choosing a project
WHEN IDENTIFYING A PROJECT… • you will have a high degree of choice and flexibility • you will have the advice and support of a supervisor • use resources designed to help you make a choice that is appropriate and achievable
WHY DO A PROJECT? • As a way to show employers and universities that you have a good range of appropriate skills for work and further study • To link your interests, subject choices and future plans • To contextualise your learning • To show that you are a creative, aware and successful student • To make a difference for others • To get UCAS application points • To take responsibility for your own learning (and enjoy it!)
YOUR FINISHED PROJECT COULD BE… • a written report • a book or guide • a performance • an exhibition • a piece of art • a community project or campaign • a piece of music or a film • a website or piece of computer software • a multimedia presentation • a video diary or photographic record • a model or construction • anything your Supervisor and the exam board will accept!
THE PROJECT GIVES YOU OPPORTUNITIES TO… • take responsibility for a project that will motivate and engage you • work alone or as a member of a group • develop valuable transferable skills for the workplace and further or higher education… project management research creative thinking & problem-solving using ICT communication reflection and evaluation
TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE A PROJECT YOU WILL… • submit a successful Project Proposal • complete a Production Log to document the project process • plan, research and carry out your project • provide a written report on what you have done • give a presentation on the outcome of the project • reflect on and evaluate your project management experience
HOW BIG DOES YOUR PROJECT HAVE TO BE? • Advanced Level projects are expected to be about 5,000 words (or the equivalent if not in a written format) • Higher Level projects should be a minimum of 2,000 words or the equivalent
THE ADVANCED LEVEL PROJECT QUALIFICATION IS… • an A Level award • assessed with A* to E grades • awarded UCAS points • a compulsory part of the new Diploma qualifications
THE HIGHER LEVEL PROJECT QUALIFICATION IS… • a Level 2 award • assessed with A* to C grades • a compulsory part of the new Diploma qualifications
