Program Goals • To increase the number of full-time faculty with international experience • To enhance connections among faculty across divisions and delivery modalities • To further the Strategic Plan goals of Developing Global Citizens & Enhancing Academic Quality
I. Individual Grants • Up to $5000 per faculty member • ALL full-time faculty eligible • Funds for travel, lodging, other expenses related to (not stipends/salary): • Research • Conferences • Faculty Development Seminars • Preparation for future Travel Courses
Application Process • Application due to FIG Committee by Feb 1 • Application currently in G: drive. Website being developed • Notifications by March 15 • Travel to take place prior to June 30 • Application due to FIG Committee by Oct 1 • Application currently in G: drive. Website being developed • Notifications by November 15 • Travel to take place prior to June 30
Individual Selection Criteria • Global Perspective • Project Goals Well Defined • Degree of Contribution to Developing Students as Global Citizens • Have Applicants Previously Received the Grant? (not eligible in consecutive years) • Detailed Proposal with Complete and Precise Budget
Expectations of Individual Recipients • Summary Report of Activities • Submitted to FIG Committee and Dean of Faculty within 8 weeks of return from travel • Collaboration with Office of Communications and Marketing • Presentation to UIU Community • Done by September 30thof following academic year
II. Group Travel • Groups of 3-8 Faculty Members • Across Divisions/Disciplines • Across Delivery Modalities (as possible) • 10-14 Days of Travel • Activities Aimed at Each Faculty Members Research/Curriculum Development
FIG Group Application • Application Due to FIG Committee by Feb 1 • Application currently available on G: drive • Award Notification by March 1 • Travel to take place during the June 1-15 timeframe
Criteria for Selection of Group Members • Application successfully addresses enhancing development of Global Citizens • Clear Purpose/Connection to Discipline • Prior Participation? (not eligible in consecutive years) • Group crosses disciplines/divisions and modalities
Expectations of Group Members • Pre-Travel • Collaboration with Co-participants • Proposing Travel Activities • Educating Group about those Activities • Common Readings • Presenting Additional Research to Group about Destination • Active Participation in Co-participant Presentations • Travel • Everyone participates, as a group, in all activities
Expectations of Group Members • Post-Travel • Individual Summary Report of Activities • Submitted to FIG Committee and Dean of Faculty within 8 weeks of return from travel • Collaboration with Office of Communications and Marketing • Panel Presentation to UIU Community • Done by September 30thof following academic year

Future Years-Group • Faculty Leader Applications • Due to FIG Committee by December 1 • Destination announced by January 15 • Responsibilities of Faculty Leaders • Selection of Destinations • Input on Selection of Participants • Coordinating travel plans/activities & pre-travel preparation
Criteria for Choosing Faculty Leader • Destination Enhances Global Perspective • Requisite Experience • International Travel Experience • Group Leading Experience • Obvious Options for a Variety of Disciplines
