  1. Proposal submissions for financial support from the EC: submitted on Dec. 8, 2004 Sustainable Economically EfficientWave Energy Converter (SEEWEC) Goal: • development of the 2nd generation FO³ wave energy converter through extensive use of the experience from monitoring the 1:3 laboratory rig and the 1:1 prototype. The project will focus on robust cost effective solutions and design for large scale (mass)manufacturing. Specific Objectives • To gain knowledge about the FO³ performance in real sea conditions through monitoring of the 1:3 scale laboratory rig and the full scale first generation device • To refine the first generation platform • To design composite material for cost effective large scale production of eggs, rods, and selected components: • To optimize the power conversion solution • To define the deployment mode of platforms into a farm • To enhance survivability of the wave converter - core of the project Partners: Fred Olsen Ltd, Ghent Univ., NTNU (ENO and Marintek), Chalmers Univ. Of Technology, ABB Tasks: power generation efficiency (NTNU, ABB, Chalmers) Status: granted
