A short self-introductory presentation for my C&I303 class

Introduction I am a fourth-year student at the University of Montana, double majoring in English (Secondary Education, Teaching ESL, Literature) and Japanese. I hope to teach high school English and one day teach English as a second language at the university level in Japan.

Why I want to teach • Teaching will:: • Keep me immersed in intellectual pursuits in English literature and linguistics • Provide me with a meaningful, lifelong career • Surround me with a community of fellow life-long learners • Allow me to take part in the formation of part of the world’s future
Teaching goals • The top goals I wish to accomplish as a teacher include: • Improving my future students in a holistic way, including their character and outlook on life as well as their knowledge and drive to continue growing in their love of English • Fostering a positive learning environment that will help students see education and school as an important safe haven for whatever challenges they may face • Serve as an exemplary role modal that will inspire students to achieve excellence in many facets of life
