Hello, were here to inform you a little bit about 2010 winter Olympics. Were going to tell you about the events and venues in Vancouver. We’ll be telling you about hockey, figure skating, curling, speed skating and a few other things.
Hockey • 6 people on the ice at a time. Normally a goalie 2 defensemen and 3 forwards • The top 6 teams in the iihf(international ice hockey federation) ranking after the 2008 world championships are qualified for the Olympics • 7-18 teams try to qualify in a tournament to get into the Olympics
Teams that are Already Qualified Teams qualified for woman's hockey • Canada, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Russia, United states of America Teams Qualified for men's hockey • Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, United States of America
GM Place-Hockey Venues • GM place was opened on September 21,1995. • GM place is planning on changing their name. • The arena that will be used for many of the ice events in the Olympics will most likely will be named Canada Hockey Place. • GM place is also known as General Motors Place.

Figure Skating • Figure skating is an athletic sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform spins, jumps, footwork and other intricate and challenging moves on ice • They dance in pairs and as induviduals • They qualify by placing high in the world figure skating championships
Curling • Played with two teams and they’re four people on the ice at once. • Teams take turns sliding the stones on a huge ice shuffle board with a target at the end • Curling originated in Scotland • Was first held in the 1996 Olympics • The other team members brush aside the salt of the ice with large brooms • Lead troughs the first two stones
Curling • Second throws 3rd and 4th stones • Third throws the 5th and 6th stones • Skip determines strategy and captains • Qualification tickets - $65 • Men/women semi finals $100 • Men / women bronze $100 • Men/ women gold $125 • Men/ women breakers $125

Speed Skating • 4-6 skaters will compete at once • The short track races are relay races. • To perform at peek condition they work on there upper and lower body. They also do running and biking to stay in top form. • Skaters will race against each other.
Venues-Speed Skating Speed Skating short track is taking place at the Pacific Coliseum located at Hastings Park The long track will be held at the Richmond Oval. (Greater Vancouver)
