3. BBCBE BRIEF BACKGROUND BBCBE is the apex organization of black construction and professional organizations in the country. It was established in 2007. Key objectives is to engage government and other statutory bodies to influence the transformation agenda. Including implementation of appropriate legislation in order to create an enabling environment for the black constituency in the building and construction industry.

Implementation of the construction industry’s Voluntary Rebuilding Programme (VRP). Inclusion of the construction industry in the Black Industrialists Programme (BIP) To host National Water and Sanitation Seminars

5. 12 YEARS OF EXISTENCE MILESTONES Launch of a Research Hub in partnership with the University of Johannesburg. We have strengthened and consolidated relationships with industry regulators and CIDB, NHBRC, Built Environment Councils (CBE, ECSA, SACPCMP, SACLAP, SAQSP, SACAP and SACPVP) CETA, CSCC, etc. Significant increase in membership to over 100 corporate members. Establishment of the Youth Chamber to advance the youth empowerment agenda. Representation on the Built Environment Professionals Export Council (BEPEC) Board which is reconstituted to represent contractors. Participation in the negotiations and launch of the original Construction Sector Codes (CSC) and the recent process to align the CSC to the Generic Codes.
