INTRODUCTION The Ghana Vision 2020: The First Step (1996-2000); The Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy I (GPRS I) (2003-2005) Growthand Poverty Reduction Strategy II (GPRS II) (2006-2009) Also the Ghana Share Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA 2010-2013) Medium-Term Development Policy Framework through the Better Ghana Agenda : expanding access to potable water and sanitation, health, housing and education; ensuring environmental sustainability in the use of natural resources through science, technology and innovation: among others.
THE THEMATIC AREAS • ACCELERATED AGRICULTURE MODERNIZATION AND NATURAL RESOURCE ENSURING AND SUSTAINING MACROECONOMIC STABILITY TRANSPARENT AND ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE • ENHANCING COMPETIVENESS OF GHANA’S PRIVATE SECTOR
ACCELERATED AGRICULTURE MODERNIZATION AND NATURAL RESOURCE OBJECTIVE THE ACHIEVEMENT • Improved agricultural productivity • Promote fisheries development, food security and income • Promote selected crop development for food security, export and industry • Increased agricultural competitiveness and enhanced integration into domestic and international markets. • 6450 bundles of fishing nets were distributed to fishermen to minimize the use of unapproved fishing net. • Construction of fishing college at Anomabo • Subsidy fertilizer and seed were given to farmers to increase production.
ENSURING AND SUSTAINING MACROECONOMIC STABILITY OBJECTIVE THE ACHIEVEMENT • Inflation rate is contained within single digit • Fiscal policy management • International trade management. • Promoting effective debt management • Ensuring price and exchange rate stability • The population growth rate will not exceed 2.2%per annum • The inflation rate of 8.8%. • Population growth rate was 2.2% (2012 est.) • Service sector being the leading sector in the economy.
TRANSPARENT AND ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE OBJECTIVE THE ACHIEVEMENT • Deepening the practice of democracy and institutional reforms • Public Sector Reform • Development Communication • Investigative committees to look into various allegations of corruption. • Introduced Visibility& Accessibility Patrols alongside Community Policing, Tent City Systems and Street Policing Strategies.
ENHANCING COMPETIVENESS OF GHANA’S PRIVATE SECTOR OBJECTIVE THE ACHIEVEMENT • Diversity exports. • Pressure capital and geographical industrialization • Diversify and expand the tourism industry for revenue generation. • Promote domestic tourism • Promote sustainable and responsible tourism. • The construction of 37 boreholes and 9 CHPS compound as children library and park at Kasoa and a rest stop at Eyisam. • The engagement of the TourvestInvestment group of South Africa as secured their interest in ecologies of the Mole and Kakum national parks and Shai hills.
THE KEY CONCULSION The Ghana share growth and development agenda enacted by the NDC government in aid to accelerate the growth of the economy and raise the living standard of the people can be emphasized on the strategies under the medium term development plan policies stated above thus: Accelerated Agriculture Modernization and Natural resource; Ensuring and Sustaining Macroeconomic Stability; Transparent and Accountable Governance and Enhancing Competiveness of Ghana’s Private sector.
