  2. What sequences do you know?

  3. Starter Spot the Pattern Look for the pattern with the sequence of number and write the next 2 numbers in the pattern. 5, 8, 11, 14, 17.................. 2, 10, 18, 26, 34, 42............... 19, 13, 7, 1, -5................. 34, 25, 16, 7.................

  4. Introducing sequences 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, ... 1st term 6th term We call a list of numbers in order a sequence. Each number in a sequence is called a term. If terms are next to each other they are referred to as consecutive terms. When we write out sequences, consecutive termsareusually separated by commas.

  5. What is the next term? 1 3 6 10 15 How is the sequence being generated? What is this sequence called?

  7. What is the next term? 3 5 7 9 11 How is the sequence being generated? What is this sequence called?

  8. What is the next term? Each term in this sequence is three times the term before it.

  9. Cube Numbers What are the first 5 terms of the cube numbers?

  10. Leap Frogs • I need 3 girls and 3 boys. • The class needs to make them swap places using HOPS or SLIDES! • I need one person to keep a tally of the hops and slides. • You need to do this is as little moves as possible.

  11. Leap Frogs • You need to use MULTILINK CUBES. Look for patterns with the frogs. • In pairs, one person move the frogs and the other person count the number of hops and slides. • What would be a good starting point?
