  1. How would humanity change if we encountered ETs? Christina Ma

In the event ETs were to visit Earth, what would humanity have to say about it? • It all depends on the ETs and what their reason for coming would be. • Their reason for visiting may be unknown making us only wonder what they want from us. People would be consumed with dread and paranoia those who never believed in this stuff before now don’t know what to think. • Others could easily embrace the idea of their being another technologically advanced species better than others.

  3. People would begin to stock up. Apocalypse survival tactics taken more seriously. • The closer the time of their arrival people will begin partying and celebrating, ages 30 and up will go through midlife crises, relationships broken, maxed out credit cards, telescopes are bought, packed airports and train stations, grasping to something of comfort or familiarity. • When they finally do arrive what will people do? Spend time with family, find someone to kiss, travel to the places they’ve never been before in their last hours.

  4. Understanding check In what ways do people begin to change as time draws closer for the ETs to come to Earth? Humans have a fear of the unknown as time draws nearer for the ETs arrival they will begin to go into panic mode. Some will party, others have midlife crises, relationships fall apart, stocking up on basic goods. Military defenses at the ready and so on.

What if the ETs are hostile? • In the event ETs come to planet Earth there is always the off chance of their reason for the journey not being in our best interest. • What might they do to us you might ask? Our biggest fear is that they will enslave us because it is something humanity has done already to its own people. • Then of course comes politics if the ETs arrive during election year its either “Are you for the aliens or against them?” • Military would be ready, there would be a run on guns, revival of bomb shelters, quarantines ready. • Religious fanatics would believe it’s the return of Jesus Christ or the true God is coming hostile or not.

  6. Understanding Check What might hostile aliens do to us? Enslave us, perform autopsies, you name it. Harvest the planet for goods. Challenge us to an interstellar war the possibilities are endless.

  7. What might their reason for coming be? • Perhaps this race of ETs are wanderers moving from planet to planet. • They are in need of fuel for their starship and are using our planet as a pit stop. • Or perhaps another race that was more hostile than them were terrorizing them and they needed to leave. • Habitable planets aren’t as common as we thought.

  8. How would they even get to us? • The most popular theory is that of wormholes. Time and space is thought to be a fabric, now to travel over long distances if one were to bend the fabric of space-time they would be able to get anywhere instantly. • Although for that to even be a possibility would require a massive amount of energy. Harnessing it from plenty of stars in the galaxy. • Another theory of harnessing energy for travel is using dark energy or “dark matter” that is found all throughout the cosmos within the gaps of outer space.

  9. How would they contact us? • Other than the presumable ways of radio waves or interfering with our television signals there are other ways. • Crop circles, mathematical languages, pictorial systems, algorithmic communication systems, and computational approaches.
