WHO WERE THE PHARISEES? • Back to the Bible movement. • Learning and living Scripture more important that religious ritual. • Many traditions to help adherents apply Scripture. • Founded “houses of study” called Synagogues. • A Holiness movement. • Committed to living out what they believe. • Evangelistic. • Believed in the priesthood of all believers. • Nice people and fine neighbours.
