ICSC9 Actions and Decisions THORPEX Africa ICSC9(14): Develop a list of key African NHMS, other government, and university contacts with both the interest and capacity to participate in THORPEX African case studies, and R&D Action: African RC Timescale: December 2011 Progress: RC membership refreshed .......

ICSC9(15) : Request for all THORPEX WGs to examine how they can further develop activities to assist the African RC (case studies/demonstration projects, training, capacity-building, data, etc.) Action: THORPEX WGs Timescale: On-going (make a focus at next respective WG meetings) Progress: All WGs are represented at this meeting. Consider at next WG meetings

  4. Contd. ICSC9(16): Utilize PDP web site to post information about African RC plan, case studies, and African contacts Action: African RC, PDP WG Timescale: Early 2012 Progress: PDP website nearing completion.

  5. Contd., ICSC9(17): Distribute past unsuccessful funding proposal(s) developed by African RC, THORPEX IPO, and others, to THORPEX and WWRP WGs Action: African RC, THORPEX IPO Timescale: ASAP Progress: Available at this meeting

Contd., ICSC9(18): Develop/review/fund proposals to support networking opportunities for African researchers on request and on a case-by-case basis Action: African RC, THORPEX IPO Timescale: 2012 fiscal year Progress: No requests yet. ICSC9(19): Establish closer collaborations with on-going African SWFDPs and West Africa RMSC Action: African RC Timescale: 2012 Progress: SWFDPs invited to this meeting, Developing products for West Africa

  7. Resource Mobilisation(Alan Edwards EC) • The orientation paper for the Security Theme in preparation for their 2013 Work Programme shows a topic SEC-2013.2.1-2 Impact of extreme weather on critical infrastructure – Capability Project.  I’ve attached this paper for your information, so that you can see more detailed information on this possible topic.   • A similar “linked” topic in the outline of the 2013Work Programme for the FP7 Environment Them, ENV.2013.6.4-4 Towards stress tests for critical infrastructures against natural hazards.  I’m also attaching this document for your info.

  8. Resource Mobilisation • One other possibility that I mentioned to you is to look at what might be possible under the PEOPLE (Marie Curie fellowship/training programme) part of FP7.  You can find a general overview of this Programme at:http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/people/home_en.html • and links to the currently open calls at https://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/page/fp7_calls
