Irrespective of the ailment that you are suffering from, the doctor often recommends the blood test. When you are getting a blood test done, it is important to keep certain factors in mind.  Hand hygiene and the use of gloves are very important. When the phlebotomist enters the room make sure that he has washed his hands and is wearing gloves. The concerned person should change his gloves every time he takes the blood from the patient’s body.  Skin antisepsis is very important. Before the needle is injected, the medical professional should clean the area with an antiseptic solution and let this dry for at least 30 seconds before the blood test.  The needle used has to be a new and sterile one. Disposable needles are a must. There is no alternative to this. It prevents contamination of the blood and is an extremely safe measure.  After the blood test is done, the blood will be transferred in a bottle. Make sure that the bottle has your name and the identification number. Proper labeling of the bottle is very important to avoid any kind of confusion.  Once the test is done, the medical professional should press the area for sometime before applying the Band-Aid over it.
